This is a contemporary abstract expressionistic landscape. Could this be a landscape of place or of a mind? The response is both; a cocoon that shelters a group of people, or a painting that explores my response to rough dry barren hills of the country. This painting forms part of a series of works that reflect ideas about openness and comfort of shelter of ‘Big Country’, such as that I experienced in Australia. The juxtaposition of colour and form intrigued me.
Jon draws on locations that have played a part in his ‘artistic journey’, exploring space, light and colour, and it is this juxtaposition. He manipulates emerging abstraction to express the essence of a particular ‘place’.
