Rapture on the Lonely Shore

This is an abstracted expressionistic painting of one of my favourite places in the South West.  The palette reflects the warm shadows of the area, and the surprise contrasts between warmth, light and dark colours of the coast. My aim in this journey is to create original art grounded in ‘place’. Chance and opportunity are the travelling companions; but the art is to know when the journey is complete. I tend to work in series, and there are several paintings that explore locations such as this that are abstracted, reflecting on themes of colour, movement and space.
