Siracusa landscape 3 – One of a series of paintings inspired by the rolling Sicilian landscape with its bright dry yellow and ochre earth and cereal fields. So many shades of yellow. These studio paintings comprise a mix of media and collage that reflect the colours and complexity of Sicilian culture, including the textiles, materials and designs of Ottavio and Rosita Missoni, who had deep links with the island.
Jon draws on locations that have played a part in his ‘artistic journey’, exploring space, light and colour, and it is this juxtaposition. He manipulates emerging abstraction to express the essence of a particular ‘place’.
