There we were looking out over the bay at the incoming storm. The clouds were heavy with rain after a beautiful day in which the sun was receding. This work on paper was painted ‘en plein aire’, which is not unusual in this part of Scotland. The composition of landscape and water is there for us to use, the weather and the colours change, so speed is essential part of the creative process.
Jon draws on locations that have played a part in his ‘artistic journey’, exploring space, light and colour, and it is this juxtaposition. He manipulates emerging abstraction to express the essence of a particular ‘place’.
